NSA Pledges Justice as Attacks Leave Dozens Dead in Plateau

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ending the cycle of violence and killings in Plateau State.

Ribadu gave the assurance during a visit to the headquarters of Operation Safe Haven in Jos, following deadly attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area, where over 50 people were killed and more than 300 homes destroyed by suspected herdsmen.

He described the attacks as unacceptable and vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice.

“We will not allow this to continue. Enough is enough,” Ribadu declared.

Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, also visited affected communities, offering relief materials and expressing sympathy on behalf of the Plateau State Government.

Community leaders, including the District Head of Manguna, called for the deployment of more security personnel to halt the violence and prevent further displacement of rural dwellers.

A resident of Hurti, Mr Yohanna Michael, recounted how over 30 people were buried in a mass grave, with many others still missing. He appealed for urgent government intervention to allow displaced persons – now numbering over 700 – to return to their ancestral homes and resume farming.

Meanwhile, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) expressed deep concern over the continued violence in the North-Central region.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Tukur Muhammad-Baba, the ACF urged the Federal Government to intervene immediately.

“Every new attack is one too many. The people are suffering and facing existential economic challenges. This killing spree must stop. Peace must be restored to Plateau State,” the statement read.
