Dangote Refinery Cuts Ex-Depot Petrol Price to ₦835
For the second time in April, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has reviewed its ex-depot (gantry) price for petrol, lowering it to ₦835 per litre.
The $20 billion Lagos-based refinery communicated the price adjustment to its marketers and customers on Wednesday.
An official of the refinery confirmed the new pricing to Channels Television, noting the reduction from ₦867 to ₦835. A formal statement from the refinery is expected.
Checks on petroleumprice.ng also confirmed the update, showing the revised gantry price as of Wednesday afternoon.
Retailers such as MRS Oil & Gas, Ardova Plc, Heyden, and others with exclusive agreements with the Dangote Refinery are anticipated to reflect this price change by reducing their pump prices below ₦900.
The latest adjustment follows a recent meeting between Dangote Refinery officials and the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun. After the meeting, the government reiterated that the naira-for-crude initiative remains in effect as a “key policy directive” to support sustainable local refining.
This decision effectively overrules an earlier move by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), under its former head Mele Kyari, which had paused the initiative.
