Benue Killings: Death Toll Hits 20 in Herdsmen Attacks — Gov. Alia
At least five people have been killed following renewed attacks by suspected herdsmen on three communities in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The affected communities—Emichi, Odudaje, and Okpamaju—came under simultaneous attacks shortly after 11 persons were killed in Otobi, also within Otukpo LGA.
Speaking to journalists after the Good Friday Mass at Holy Ghost Parish in Makurdi, Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the attacks and advised residents against taking the law into their own hands.
He assured the public that the state government, in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, is working on a comprehensive strategy to end the wave of killings.
Governor Alia urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements to security agencies to enable prompt response.
