INEC Issues Certificates of Return to Winners of By-elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday presented Certificates of Return to winners of the 16 August by-elections.

The presentation, held at INEC headquarters in Abuja, was conducted by National Commissioners representing the respective constituencies.

Receiving his certificate, Senator-elect for Anambra South, Emmanuel Nwachukwu, pledged to provide inclusive representation, particularly for business people and persons with disabilities.

“We will work across party lines to address issues such as erosion, healthcare, and education. My goal is for the people of Anambra South to feel genuinely represented,” he said.

Nwachukwu described the region as the “erosion capital of Nigeria” and expressed readiness to work with local and international experts to address the crisis.

In his remarks, Senator-elect Joseph Ikpea (APC–Edo Central) promised not to disappoint his constituents. He succeeds Monday Okpebholo, who resigned to contest the Edo governorship election.

“The way I serve my people now will determine if they support me for a second term,” Ikpea said.

Also speaking, Omosede Igbinedion (APC–Edo), Member-elect for Ovia Federal Constituency, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the Edo State Governor, and her constituents for their support.

“I dedicate this victory to the people. I will work hard to exceed their expectations in the National Assembly,” she said.

Meanwhile, INEC announced that Certificates of Return for State Assembly members-elect would be issued on Friday by Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at state INEC offices from 11 a.m.
