Lagos Moves Ahead with Computer Village Relocation to Katangowa

The Lagos State Government on Monday met with stakeholders of Computer Village, Ikeja, over plans to relocate the market to Katangowa, Agbado-Oke Odo.

Permanent Secretary of the Office of Urban Development, Mr. Gbolahan Oki, said the meeting followed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s directive that the process must be transparent and inclusive.

“This is the first time in 15 years that government is meeting directly with traders in the market, which underscores the governor’s commitment to openness,” Oki said.

He explained that the new ICT and Business Park at Katangowa would feature hotels, banks, recreation centres, car parks, a fire station, police post and well-developed access roads.

Oki urged traders to embrace the relocation, stressing that Ikeja’s original residential plan had been distorted by business expansion, while Katangowa would offer a more organised environment.

The Iyaloja of Computer Village, Chief Abisola Azeez, thanked the governor, noting that the move would enhance the market’s potential and provide better opportunities.

Other officials present included Mr. Oladimeji Animashaun, General Manager of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency; Mrs. Florence Gbaye, Coordinating Director of the Lagos State Building Control Agency; and Mr. Segun Williams, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Development.
