Oluremi Tinubu: ₦20bn Raised for National Library Through 65th Birthday Fund
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that more than ₦20 billion has been raised for the National Library project through a special fundraising initiative tied to her 65th birthday.
Speaking at an interactive session with State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Mrs Tinubu explained that the initiative, known as the Oluremi Tinubu at 65 Fund, was designed to channel goodwill into a lasting national legacy.
Rather than receiving personal gifts or having congratulatory messages published in newspapers, on television or on radio, she had urged well-wishers to contribute towards the construction of a modern National Library. According to her, the project is intended to serve as a beacon of knowledge and cultural preservation for future generations.
She noted that the response from individuals, organisations and communities across the country had been overwhelming, with donations quickly surpassing ₦20 billion.
The First Lady stressed that her motivation was rooted in patriotism and a desire to advance education in Nigeria, not political ambition.
“This is not about politics; it is about what I can do for my country,” she said, reaffirming her commitment to strengthening intellectual development and educational access.
