ADC Orders Coalition Members to Cut Ties with Former Parties
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has instructed members of its national coalition to resign from their former political parties in order to be formally recognised as members of the ADC.
The directive was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, following a caucus meeting in Abuja. He explained that although a final order had been issued, no specific deadline was given for compliance.
Abdullahi further disclosed that all the party’s presidential aspirants for the 2027 elections had agreed to support whoever emerges as the candidate at the primaries.
He also clarified that the ADC had no links with the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), which is currently seeking registration as a political party.
The National Working Committee, Abdullahi said, would soon announce dates for the party’s primaries to elect candidates for the forthcoming off-cycle governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti States.
The caucus meeting was attended by ADC National Chairman, David Mark; former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar; National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai; former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; and former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, among others.
He added that Labour Party’s National Leader, Peter Obi, was absent but sent apologies and pledged his commitment to the resolutions reached.
