Celebrities Showcase African Heritage at AMVCA 2026 Cultural Night

Fashion, music, and art took centre stage at the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) Cultural Night as celebrities celebrated Africa’s rich cultural heritage.

The colourful event, held on Friday night at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, was themed: “Honouring Craft, Celebrating Culture”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event attracted actors, filmmakers, reality television stars, fashion enthusiasts, and other entertainment personalities, all dressed in elaborate traditional attire showcasing the beauty and diversity of African fashion.

Among the celebrities in attendance were Omowunmi Dada, Uche Jombo, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Nnenna Mbonu, and Iyabo Ojo.

Stan Nze, Bucci Franklin, Saga Adeolu, Liquorose, Neo Akpofure, and Venita Akpofure also attended, adorned in elaborate traditional outfits celebrating African culture and identity.

Guests dazzled in richly crafted Aso Oke, Kente, Isiagu, beaded regalia, and other indigenous fabrics reflecting the creativity and diversity of African fashion.

This year’s cultural night highlighted African storytelling, creativity, and heritage through fashion and entertainment.

Host of the event, Uti Nwachukwu, described the cultural night as a celebration of African identity and storytelling beyond film and television.

He noted that the platform continued to promote unity and cultural pride while recognising entertainment as a tool for preserving African traditions.

“The cultural night is a celebration of African identity and storytelling that goes beyond film and television.

“This platform continues to promote unity and cultural pride while spotlighting entertainment as a tool for preserving African traditions.

“AMVCA Cultural Night remains a powerful reminder of who we are as Africans, which we express through our culture, fashion, and storytelling,” he said.

NAN reports that the evening also featured cultural dance performances, live music, traditional cuisine, and fashion displays, creating an atmosphere of glamour and heritage.

The AMVCA is regarded as one of Africa’s biggest film and television award platforms, celebrating excellence in African filmmaking, acting, production, and storytelling.

The main awards ceremony will hold on Saturday in Lagos, where nominees across various categories are expected to compete for top honours.
