Tinubu Pledges to Uphold APC Manifesto, Campaign Promises Ahead of 2027 Election
President Bola Tinubu has pledged to uphold the All Progressives Congress (APC) manifesto and honour his commitments to the party as he seeks re-election in the 2027 general election.
Tinubu made the pledge on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he described himself as an “errand man” of the ruling party.
Addressing party leaders and members, the President reaffirmed his commitment to the APC’s objectives, promises, and manifesto.
“To me, I am your errand man. Even for the president, I raise my hand for full commitment that we abide by my promises and the manifestos, the objective, the intention of our party. That’s all I give you,” he said.
Tinubu commended the party for successfully conducting its congresses and electing leaders at the ward, local government, state, and national levels despite predictions that the exercise would plunge the APC into an internal crisis.
He recalled that the party’s 15th National Executive Committee meeting, held on 19 December 2025, had ratified the programme for the congresses.
“We conducted it. They said there would be implosion. We passed through it. We did not fail. You did not let us down,” he said.
The President praised party members for their participation in the process, saying the APC had emerged united and prepared for the next electoral contest.
“This council will carry our vision, our record and our agenda to every Nigerian, and it will carry them to every ward of this country. We arrive at this moment strong, united and renewed,” he said.
He urged members of the campaign council to mobilise support in their respective wards, stressing that their efforts would ultimately be judged by their ability to deliver electoral victories.
“The APC is ready. We have not gathered merely to inaugurate a council; we have gathered to renew a covenant, a covenant with the Nigerian people and the historic responsibility they have entrusted to us as Nigeria’s governing party. We promise we will not let them down,” he said.
Tinubu thanked party members for their contributions to his victory in the previous presidential election but warned that their assignment would remain incomplete until they secured another victory in 2027.
“But no one gets credit for an incomplete assignment. So, until you deliver the next election, until you deliver your wards, until you deliver the votes, before we can say thank you,” he said.
The President also pledged not to allow the demands of campaigning to distract him from his responsibilities in office.
He said party leaders had advised him to ensure that campaign activities did not interfere with governance, a position he endorsed.
Tinubu stressed that the demands of his office would continue throughout the election period, particularly at a time when the country required sustained attention.
“Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause.
“However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas, so you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” he said.
Tinubu, who won the 2023 presidential election on the APC platform, is seeking a second four-year term in the 2027 general election.
