2027: Hamzat Unveils Manifesto, Makes 100 Pledges for Lagos
The Lagos State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election, Obafemi Hamzat, has pledged to sustain the state’s development drive and build a more prosperous Lagos.
Hamzat made the commitment on Friday during the unveiling of his manifesto at the Wole Soyinka Centre, Iganmu, Lagos.
The Deputy Governor disclosed that his manifesto contained 100 pledges, which he promised to deliver if elected.
According to him, children were at the centre of his vision for a more prosperous Lagos. He highlighted plans to provide 580 additional hospital beds across the state, pledging to expand access to quality healthcare.
Hamzat also promised improvements to the state’s road network and transport infrastructure, including the activation of the Fourth Mainland Bridge project.
He said the state was pursuing the establishment of a university of medicine to provide young Nigerians with opportunities to build careers in the health sector.
The governorship candidate further pledged to strengthen teacher development and review the compensation package for Lagos State workers.
He also promised to reduce the cost of food from the farm to the table.
On youth development, Hamzat said his administration would equip young people with the skills required to thrive in the present and future economies.
Other commitments included more affordable broadband services, improved security, and an enabling environment for residents to build and prosper.
Earlier, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended Hamzat for his selflessness in public service.
He recalled that the Deputy Governor had sacrificed his own governorship ambition in 2018 to support his emergence as the party’s candidate.
Sanwo-Olu also assured residents that Lagos would experience a peaceful transition from one administration to another, without rancour.
The governorship election is scheduled for February 6, 2027.
