President Bola Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s by-elections across 16 constituencies in 12 states, praising the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as “hitch-free elections, mostly devoid of violence.”

In a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President lauded INEC’s performance and urged political parties to embrace sportsmanship.

Tinubu also congratulated new APC National Chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, describing the party’s victories as “an emphatic first success” under his leadership.
“Chairman Yilwatda has shown leadership capacity and demonstrated what is possible when popular candidates are fielded, with unity of purpose among party leaders,” the President said.

The APC won in 12 constituencies, APGA in two, the PDP in one, and the NNPP in one.

Tinubu assured voters that his Renewed Hope agenda would deliver a more secure and prosperous Nigeria. “Our destination is a better, more secure and prosperous Nigeria,” he said, while urging all candidates to remain guided by fairness and magnanimity in the spirit of democracy.
