FG Detains, Moves to Prosecute Five Officers over El-Rufai Airport Security Breach
A joint investigation by the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Nigeria Customs Service, and the Federal Ministry of Aviation has identified and detained five officers over an alleged security breach involving former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 12, 2026.
The officers are accused of receiving bribes to facilitate unauthorised access to restricted areas of the airport in a bid to obstruct lawful security operations.
They are said to have confessed to the allegations and were subsequently handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for prosecution.
Officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service whose actions were not deemed criminal, but involved the misuse of their uniforms to grant unauthorised access, will face administrative sanctions.
